So back in the 1st quarter of 2020 I started considering purchasing a Tesla to replace my Wife’s aging 2007 Buick Lucerne. This started shortly after the COVID stock market crash, we had money set aside for other large purchases that have been put to the back burner and I decided it was time to do something with that money. So long story short, I made some wise and some not so wise investments from March through November 2020 that lead to us being able to pay cash for my Wife’s new Model 3, but wait there’s more, our investments had actually done well enough to allow us to pay cash for two Model 3’s.
Our research started with the basics, which Tesla Model and what Options? I quickly settled on a Model 3, but left the door open for a Model Y, although I was concerned with the Y due to the lower overall efficiency and increased purchase price when compared to the Model 3. Now we know what we will eventually want to test drive, now for the Interior and Exterior color as we had already settled on a Long Range All Wheel Drive with the Aero Wheels and Tire Package. My Wife, Shawna, quickly pointed to the Deep Blue Metallic, but wasn’t so quick on the interior, which with Tesla is 2 choices, Black or White. She wanted to see it in person before deciding, and like any sane person would think, is white really the best color for a car interior.
Myself, I’ve been driving black vehicles since the early 90’s, starting with my 87 Buick Grand National (yes I still have it), a Ford Ranger, and a Chevy Cruze Eco. So my decision was easy, and after seeing images online, I was 90% sure I wanted White Interior, but wanted to see it in person. We also had a decision to make on my car, do I get a Long Range or not, I only drive 9 miles round trip daily to work, so day to day range was not a concern for either one of us, but much less of a concern for me, but I do partake in the Storm Chasing Hobby, which can lead to 1000+mile drives in 24 hours.
So we are settled on the Model 3, unless the Model Y changes or minds when we test drive, one Blue, one Black, our interior options are still open, and I have to make a decision on how much range I want to buy.
